Independence Day in DC was so cool (well, very very hot)! Jon came down Friday morning and we walked and walked and walked around the city. The parade was nice, and the festivities were interesting. But the fireworks over the Washington Monument were spectacular! Over 500,000 people were there. A wonderful test of my fear of crowds.

Saturday we went to The Avalon Theatre and watched Amen. It was an amazing movie. I highly suggest a viewing. Yesterday (Sunday) morning he drove back to Maine.

Tomorrow and Wednesday I will be in Potomac, MD to meet with some IBM folks about security specs for a new project. An uptight stuffy professional affair with suits and great food. I like my job. DC is good to me.

The DMV in DC is horrible. After being in line for over and hour, I was told I needed to go get a DC inspection first, and bring in lots more paperwork before I can get my plates and license. So I went to the inspection station (in the SAME neighborhood where those gangstas chased me) and waited another hour. Luckily anything that rolls gets a sticker there, so I passed despite crappy wipers, a screw in one of my four bald tires and a broken tail light cover. I have to go back to get my plates & stuff Tuesday during lunch. I look forward to another wasted afternoon.

I was planning on going to Ocean City tomorrow for some beach time, however I discovered the aforementioned screw in my rear left tire. When I move it, air comes out. So I'm going to leave it alone until I replace them all this Fall. Damn kids.. ahem... gangstas-in-training!

I'm going to get a kitty! More on that later.

I have to go do dishes now, I've run out of clean wares and it's starting to stink. I need a maid.

Sorry for not keeping this place up to date - I've been remarkably busy as of late. I got a cat! A really sweet girl named Sophie. She is 5 years old, gray tiger, blind, and currently has a cold, thus she sneezes all the time. I'm giving her medication that she doesn't like. She makes me happy.

Some weird things have been happening. If I disappear or something be very suspicious. I'm not just paranoid here, I've checked the logs on my web site and have also witnessed some strange activity around me. Some shifty company with ties to certain high political figures is researching me. Knowledge may be power, but it can also be dangerous.

TIP: If you move to DC with an automobile, be prepared to say goodbye to A LOT of money. Insurance is more than double, excise tax is unjustified, and fees seem to appear from nowhere!

Ok folks things are getting really scary in Randy-land. If you wanna know what is going on I cannot discuss it over telephone, email or in person. Download the Secure Cryptographic Instant Messenger client, create an account (free/easy) and add 'wormser' to your buddy list. If I'm online, send me a message and we'll talk. Things have been disappearing, and people have been appearing. For lack of better language, things are pretty fucked up here.

Aside from that! I've started working out... I know, crazy! My friend Annabelle's boyfriend is my sudo-trainer. He's pretty cool, doesn't laugh at my less-than-stellar ability. I was in Baltimore for work on Monday, tommorow I'll be in Rosslyn conducting a software security review, and next week I'll be in Raleigh, NC for meetings. I met a violinist playing in the L'Enfant Plaza subway Tuesday and asked her if she would be interested in helping me work on the new CD. She seems interested, and she's really good. I hope it works out. My cat is feeling better, she's getting over a cold. This morning I woke up and she was 2 inches from my face staring at me. Keep in mind she is BLIND! Very eerie.

I've got some reading to do now. I know I've been bad about communications with friends lately, I'm sorry. Just been really busy. I'll make it up to you all - I promise!
